Restore Deleted Content from the Audit Trail (beta)

Written by Alicia Lamontagne
Updated this week

The audit trail lets Global Admins restore deleted content directly from the platform, without contacting Support. When you restore an item, a preview shows you exactly what will be recovered before you confirm, and you receive an in-app notification once the restore is complete.

Note: This feature is currently available in beta.

Before you start

  • You must have the Global Admin role.

  • You can only restore content from the Web app.

  • Only supported content types can be restored. If a deletion entry does not show a Restore button, that object type is not eligible for restore.

How to restore deleted content

  1. Go to the Administration menu in the platform.

  2. Select Audit Trail.

  3. Filter by Action Type: Delete to locate the deletion event you want to reverse.

  4. Click the Restore button on the relevant deletion entry.

  5. Review the preview dialogue, which lists the item to be restored and any related content to be recovered.

  6. Click Confirm to proceed.

The restore runs in the background. You will receive an in-app notification when the operation completes successfully or fails.

Restore preview

Before a restore is finalized, a preview dialogue shows you:

  • The primary item that will be restored

  • Any related items that will be recovered as part of the same operation (for example, steps or attachments linked to the deleted content)

Review the preview carefully before confirming; restoring an item may also recover associated content you were not expecting.

Restore notifications

Because restores run asynchronously, the result is not always immediate. Once the operation finishes, you will receive one of the following in-app notifications:

  • Restore successful: the content has been recovered and is accessible again.

  • Restore failed: the operation could not be completed. Contact Support if the issue persists.

Supported content types

Not all content types can be restored from the audit trail. The following object types are currently supported:

  • Skills,

  • Work Instructions & Troubleshoots,

  • News Posts.
